What Are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a titanium or ceramic post — like a tooth root — that is surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line. After it is left to heal, the dentist can then attach a replacement tooth or teeth onto the implant.
An implant doesn't come loose like a denture can; it acts like a natural tooth root and integrates with your bone. They also benefit general oral health because they don't need to be anchored to other teeth, unlike bridges — meaning they are not destructive of your other teeth.
They can replace single teeth or a whole arch using single or multiple dental implants. Many patients find it a lot more comfortable than expected, with most being able to return to work the next day.

Are dental implants painful?
Although patients often find it surprising — no. We numb the area using anaesthetic, similarly to a filling. The procedure itself is pain free. Majority of patients do not experience pain after treatment; mild discomfort, if any, can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Are dental implants safe?
Yes. We carry out a 3D CT scan showing exact locations of nerves and bone levels to the millimetre. Of all our patients who have had dental implants, we are yet to have any experience nerve damage. Our current failure rate is only 1.08%.
How long do dental implants last?
They should last your lifetime pending correct care — regular brushing, check-ups and hygiene appointments. We offer a lifetime guarantee for our dental implants.
Can dental implants be removed?
You would not remove a dental implant unless essential, which is very unusual. Once integrated into the bone, it is designed to be there for life. The crown, bridge or denture on top can be managed by your dental professional.
Why are dental implants expensive?
Dental implants cost more due to the surgical procedure, time in surgery, and the longevity of the treatment. A bridge may need replacing multiple times in your lifetime — implants don't. They are a long-term investment.
